OUR TEAM

We are all Seniors at Foothill High School in Mrs. Richey’s Literature and Social Justice class. For the past 2 months we have been learning about genocides, past and present.  At the very end of our genocide unit we had a Socratic Seminar where we discussed questions on these issues. Our last questions was,"Considering everything you have learned about genocide during this unit, and everything you read in Power's preface, what, if anything, is your personal role in preventing or stopping genocide?" We all decided that our personal role in preventing genocide was to take action and do something about it. We believe that everyone has the capability to change the world and we believe you can help us change the lives of the millions who are affected directly by genocide. We want you to join us in our fight to end genocide, we want you to be a messenger of our change, we want you to accomplish this goal with us. We want to take action and raise awareness of this issue that many people ignore. Genocide is happening now and it’s our turn to help.

I have always felt a calling to help other people and I am so excited to say that my class and I are doing something to help those who need it the most. The most important thing to remember is to always be kind. We underestimate the power of kindness and passion. Those two things combined can move mountains and that's what I hope to do with United for Peace.
